What better way to get in the mood for Christmas than Christmas music. It sets a tone and a mood. One of my fave artists to listen to for Christmas music is Frank Sinatra. He has some beautiful arrangements of some great classics! When I’m putting up the tree or baking..okay maybe not baking… but wrapping presents; I always put on Christmas music. Better yet, add in a fireplace, eggnog, and warm pj’s and I am good to go.
The one cool thing about Christmas music is that Christmas comes but once a year, so it’s unlikely you’ve heard the songs all year. In fact have you ever heard a Christmas song in July? What was your reaction? My reaction was like an instant jolt of “This is so wrong!”. Why did I react that way? Because it’s a special time of year and Christmas music just goes hand in hand with Christmas. They are two peas in a pod.
Many, many timeless albums are collected throughout the years. From Boney M to Kenny G, people love collecting Christmas Music. Thankfully, they are always looking for new interpretations of some of the classics and discovering new versions of tunes that they fell in love with.
What else is really great about Christmas Music? Like all music, it creates a feeling, but with Christmas music there is a very distinct feeling. For me, personally, it brings excitement, joy, relaxation and gratitude. Why “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of The Year” don’t ya know? Then, after December 25, we’ve had our fill; the Christmas music has had it’s share of play time and is ready to be packed up again.
How many times throughout the year have you heard the same songs being played over and over on the radio. Christmas music is a one time deal and you get a year to build that excitement around pulling out that music again. It is timeless. That is one of the main reasons I recorded a Christmas Album, for the fact that people will pull it out every year and enjoy, and it will never go out of style no matter what kind of music is trending. You could say it is somewhat of a legacy.
