Wedding Music, an essential part of your special day
Step 2 – “What to do with your list”
Welcome to my second blog entry about wedding music. If you missed my first one just click here and get yourself caught up.
I am writing this blog because not only am I a professional singer from Calgary, Alberta, Canada but I am also extremely passionate about relationships and connection. Throughout my career as a professional vocalist I have had the extreme privilege to perform for many weddings. The comments my clients have received about their musical selections for their weddings have been amazing and extremely positive. In a recent conversation with a past client they told me that their guests are still talking about their special day, the beautiful music, and performance. I asked them why they think that is and they said:
“Guests could see you were sincere with fulfilling our requests for our special songs. Your performance enhanced the feel of our wedding and was a gift to our closest friends and family.”- Kelsey & Tony
This beautiful couple planned their wedding in a very short time and knew music was important but wasn’t sure where to start, so they found me online and we met for coffee, which is extremely essential in my opinion as part of the connection process. We fast tracked the process a bit, but together we came up with a very customized musical agenda that created amazing results.
STEP TWO: You have your list, now what?
The first blog post has inspired you to create a list of tunes that you feel connected to in some way. Now write out four columns with the following titles, this is always more fun with a warm cup of coffee or a glass of wine…just sayin!
Fun. Romantic. Classic. Alternative.
Then go through your list of songs and put them under a category that you feel most appropriate. You can add or subtract columns, this is just a guideline
Here’s an example:
Fun: She’s a Lady
Romantic: The Power of Love
Classic: Ave Maria
Alternative: Best Day Of My Life, Highway To Hell
Once you have completed this, sleep on it and don’t be afraid to add more songs as you go, and remember, this is a fun process 🙂
